IPL?
Indian Premier League – This force me to write again. I am
not a good writer but, I am a good
reader. So, I am not really going to worry about the
vocabulary.
To start with, this time I really hate IPL as the time Tamil
eelam issue was running high on media here. Voices were raised when Sri Lankan
players are not allowed to play in Chennai.
We saw a lot of our friend’s posts in facebook to support this. But, my
point is not only this.
My point is when the students really took this issue in
their hand; I feel movie and sports will again divert them into entertainment
rather than looking into public issues.
IPL is one of such bad threat which takes our valuable time
and makes money for the investors. Apart from sports, people are really looking
for personal comments and behavior (remember Virat Kohli). Is it really
necessary? Do we really need to spend our time for someone to make their money?
A month back, I have requested all my friends to avoid
watching IPL matches. This is because, I suppose the selectors should avoid Sri
Lankan players for killing of fishermen and the worst war happened in that island.
We avoided Pakistan players for political reasons. Why can’t be the same
decision taken for Sri Lankan players also? Personally, I don’t have any vengeance
on any individual. But, Indian government or BCCI should follow the same
decision for Sri Lankan players also. This is the expectation from the people of the
southern state of India. You may find thousand of reasons to argue on this.
But, we cannot just ignore the death of 600 fishermen or our fellow Tamils are
not given equal rights in that island.
So, this is my question why can’t our younger generation
free from worshipping cricketers or movie starts as their heroes?
